Fight #1: Larxene vs. Azula

Edge: Lightning. The element often affiliated with a balance of positive and negative energy, used to create discharges of what some call ‘cold fire’, because of its fierce power and deathly potential.

Deadpool: It is also the element you will MOST often see on a psycho sadist! And these two shockingly sadistic electrokinetics stand out in particular as the best at what they do!

Edge: Azula, Lightningbending Princess of the Fire Nation.

Deadpool: And Larxene, Organization XIII’s own Savage Nymph.

Edge: I’m Wildgun-Edge and he’s Deadpool! And we’re here to analyze these two Psycho Electros and their skills, strengths and weaknesses to answer the question once and for all... who would win in a Death Battle?

LARXENE
Age: Mid-twenties
Species: Nobody
First appearance: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (2004)
Affiliations: Organization XIII

Edge: Larxene, the Savage Nymph, is the twelfth member of Organization XIII, a group of Nobodies devoted to reclaiming their hearts, and served as one of the main antagonists for the storyline of Kingdom Hearts hero Sora during the events surrounding Castle Oblivion.

Deadpool: She is also notable as being the only female on Organization XIII. ...Okay, there’s Xion, but she’s the only FULL-GROWN WOMAN on Organization XIII if you know what I mean...

Edge: Ahem, moving on. Larxene, however, was anything BUT loyal to the Organization. In fact, she and another member of the Organization, Marluxia, were conspiring to manipulate Sora through the use of his dear friend Kairi’s Nobody, Naminé, to rewrite Sora’s memories and use him to overthrow the Organization. All because they didn’t want their hearts back...

Deadpool: Wow... if it weren’t for the fact they had, y’know, no hearts, they’d make a perfect power couple. Larxene, as a Nobody, has abilities far beyond your average Joe; possessing superhuman strength, capable of knocking an opponent flying backwards through jabs and kicks, and, most notably, her speed. She’s so fast; she gives Minato Namikaze and Yoruichi Shihion a run for their money!

Edge: Don’t reference future fights, Wade! Her fighting style is based primarily off of a ninja’s, using fast movements and swift jabs, kicks in combination with her agile body to deliver damage fast.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES...

Deadpool: Larxene’s primary weapons of choice, however, are a set of eight throwing knives, her signatures being named Fondue-

Edge: FOUDRE.

Deadpool: Eh, they sound similar.

Edge: The Foudre, French for ‘lightning’... or something like that anyway, I take Spanish not French... are wielded between her fingers in a way similar to kunai knives. Larxene often uses these in a claw-like fashion to stab or slash an opponent, but can also throw them like a kunai. Fortunately for Larxene, unlike a kunai, the knives come back in a flash. They can also be used in unison to Larxene’s lightning, often used to conduct the electricity in order to inflict more painful attacks, fitting for her sadistic nature.

FOUDRE...
- Eight throwing knives
- Used in close-range combat like claws to stab or slash
- Come back in a flash after being thrown
- Light and easy to hide
- Lightning-element magic can be infused into the blades

Deadpool: Larxene can also use teleportation to move around a battlefield; however without using the Dark Corridors, this is restricted to only being able to teleport within the area of which she is fighting. Our Psycho Electro also packs the ability to make illusion-like clones of herself to attack an opponent relentlessly, despite their low endurance... hey, is anyone else being reminded of Naruto here?

TELEPORTATION...
- Can teleport short distances at the speed of light
- Is restricted to the area around her

CLONES...
- Can create multiple replicas of herself to attack
- Enables her to confuse the opposition
- Low endurance

Edge: Larxene’s signature ability, however, is her ability to use magic to create and control electricity to execute powerful combo attacks. Some of her most NOTABLE combos include the Thundara, a more advanced version of the classic Thunder spell that creates a barrage of bolts around her; the Lightning Bolt, several discharges of lightning that draw a poor sap in like a moth to the flame; Mega Volt, where she throws her Foudre into the ground to create a fierce lightning barrage; and the infamous Blade Storm, a powerful attack where, after throwing her knives, they produce beams of lightning that, if one hits... they ALL hit!

Deadpool: She is also immune to all lightning-based attacks to boot! Man, Electro ain’t got anything on THIS CHICK, I swear. AND THEN... we get to the desperation attack!

THUNDER MAGIC...
- Thundara: Can create several lightning bolts to descend on the field
- Lightning Bolt: Several discharges of electricity that pull the opponent in
- Mega Volt: Larxene throws her knives into the ground, creating a fierce barrage of electricity
- Blade Storm: Throwing all eight knives forward, they produce a series of lightning beams that, upon locking onto an opponent, all striking with deadly force.
- Immunity to electricity

Edge: The Limit Break is an ability Larxene can use when she is on her last leg, with little to no options left and low health. Voltic Rush, her Limit Break, is a series of rapid slashes infused with lightning.

Deadpool: That’s all? LAME!

Edge: You didn’t let me finish. HOWEVER, the Limit Break also has an enhanced form known as the Final Limit. In her Final Limit, Larxene darts around the battlefield coated in an armor of pure Thunder-element magic, slashing rapidly with deadly lightning-enhanced force each time.

Deadpool: HOLY CRAP! She’s like a Pikachu on steroids! However, the downside is that Limit Breaks are often inaccurate and can only be used as a last resort attack. But hey, when you’re darting around that fast, you’ve gotta hit SOMETHING, eh?

LIMIT BREAK...
- Voltic Rush: A series of rapid-fire slashes enhanced with lightning
- Final Limit: Larxene forms an armor of lightning around her body before dashing across the battlefield, delivering lightning-infused slashes
- Powerful, but inaccurate
- Can only be used when Larxene’s health and endurance is low

Edge: Despite her broad arsenal of abilities, Larxene is far from invincible. She may be a sadistic nutcase, but she is also surprisingly child-like and playful; prolonging a fight longer than necessary to toy with her opponent. Also, despite exhibiting superhuman strength and speed, her lithe build results in a lack of real stamina and endurance compared to others. She can hit fast, but she can’t take too MANY hits. And her sanity is... less than average...

Deadpool: Understatement of the century. Pixie-hair, for all her perks, is also very unstable for a Nobody; having attacked Sora in a blind rage following Axel’s betrayal of her betrayal plans... a blind rage that led to her death. Yeah, way to go, Savage Nymph, you died at the hands of a fourteen-year-old because you couldn’t take your boyfriend’s betrayal...

Edge: However, despite this bizarre personality, Larxene, in the end, is not only sadistic, but also deadly. Truly deserving of the title ‘Savage Nymph’...

AZULA...
Age: Fourteen
Species: Human
First appearance: Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)
Affiliations: Fire Nation

Edge: Azula is the daughter of Fire Lord Ozai, born into the privileges of Fire Nation royalty. However, during that time, the Nation was also at war with the other surviving nations, meaning that, at a young age, Azula was plunged into the world of Firebending: the art of creating and controlling the element of fire.

Deadpool: Azula quickly became a child prodigy as well as Daddy’s Little Psycho, soon went on to become one of the most powerful Firebenders of her generation as well as being known as the girl who FINALLY brought Ba Sing Se to submission. All at the age of fourteen... y’know, why is it that the greatest fighters in media seem to be the ones who haven’t gone through puberty entirely?

Edge: Her physical condition isn’t exactly as superhuman as Larxene but Azula is a very dexterous fighter, her style revolving, as expected from a Firebender, around the use of her hands. Azula boasts impressive martial arts skills: her most prevalent fighting style being seemingly based off the Chinese kung fu styles of Northern Shaolin, which emphasizes greatly on range, quick advances, wide stances, kicking and leaping, circular rotational blocks, speed, agility and ferocity; and the Southern Dragon, powerful and quick moves that focus on short-range with grapples and clawing-like motions as well as a zigzag like motion pattern, based off the Chinese Dragon.

Deadpool: She takes the term ‘Dragon Lady’ to a whole new level! Azula is also a very agile fighter, capable of using high jumps, running up walls, midair flips and acrobatic ability to avoid an attack, based off her friend Ty Lee’s acrobatics. How does she do all that crap? Anime physics, that’s how!

Deadpool: Azula doesn’t use weaponry like Larxene. Instead, she often uses her intelligence to analyze an opponent’s fighting style and later replicate it for her own use. She even managed to deduce a trap set up for her by Team Avatar involving a fake trail and conquered the very city her General Uncle could not during his legendary six-hundred-day siege... all at the age of FOURTEEN, may I add.

INTELLIGENCE...
- Very studious
- Analyzes and copies an opponent’s moves
- Can identify and counter traps with ease
- Master of battle strategies

Edge: Azula’s greatest ability, however? Her Firebending... Since her childhood, Azula has been a prodigy of a Firebender, often praised as one of the greatest. Unlike most Firebending masters, Azula has shown the ability to evolve her fire FURTHER, producing blue flames with an intensity and force greater than any orange, red or yellow flame another Firebender has produced. Combined with her martial arts, Azula can produce larger bursts of flame than any other known Firebender without losing too much energy, able to level a battlefield in minutes.

Deadpool: Azula can also use her fire for specific attacks, such as concussive fireballs able to firmly pulverise what it hits, condensed blasts that cut, walls of swirling fire to block powerful elemental attacks. But she’s not finished there, folks! Oh no... She can also PROPEL herself forward like a jet using these flames! It may not reach the speed of Larxene’s teleportation, but it’s a step in the right direction speed-wise.

FIREBENDING...
- Can produce blue flames; more powerful and destructive than orange, red or yellow fire
- High chi levels; can produce more powerful bursts without losing energy
- Concussive fireballs
- Condensed ‘blades’ of fire
- Fire walls to deflect and absorb attacks
- Propulsion

Edge: Azula’s final notable ability is her Lightningbending. An advanced form of Firebending, Azula can balance positive and negative energy to generate blasts of electricity. Azula’s skill with Lightningbending is to the point where she can, in mere seconds, create concussive blasts to disarm an opponent or even fatal discharges to shut your nervous system, brain and heart down.

Deadpool: Yikes! The downside is that, to use Lightningbending and control it, you need emotional balance. And Azula... isn’t exactly completely balanced. The angrier and more crazy she gets the more out-of-control her attacks become.

LIGHTNINGBENDING...
- Can generate and release streams of electricity
- Blasts travel at speed of light
- Requires advanced control to use

Edge: Azula’s greatest weakness is her own mental state. Her perfectionist personality, whilst beneficial to her training, resulted in her developing a complex; partially due to her constant failure to earn her mother’s approval in contrast to daddy. The betrayal of her best friends, Mai and Ty Lee, also added to her crumbling psyche and, finally, she eventually shattered into a screeching fiery raging psychopath. This hinders her Firebending and Lightningbending’s control and results in her tiring out more easily from using powerful blasts

Deadpool: Now, for those who want the big fancy politically-correct terms for things, psychologists deduce both of these ladies' condition as sociopathy, a mental disorder that drives its victims to inflict pain and suffering onto others. But, despite her insanity, Azula has still been shown as capable of holding onto her grip to sanity long enough to fight when the task calls for it.

Edge: All in all, Azula is a cruel conqueror and mistress of the elements...  Hot and dangerous, a deadly combo indeed...

Deadpool: You think she’s WHAT?!

Edge: Uh, moving on!

(Azula: Well what choice do I have? Trust is for fools! Fear is the only reliable way. Even you fear me.)

Edge: Alright, we’ve got our stats and two crazy ladies out to kill each other! It’s time we let them loose to finally settle this debate once and for all!

Deadpool: SO, as good ol’ Boomstick put it best, IT’S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!!

Within the grand crimson halls of the Fire Nation’s throne room, sat behind a wall of blue flames, sat a figure, calmly gazing outwards with golden hawk-like eyes. She was a girl of fourteen years, pale-skinned with black hair, clad in dark-red robes under black armor plating on her chest and shoulders. She was Azula, Princess of the Fire Nation. The sound of electricity sparking caught her attention as she looked up, an inky-black portal opening down below in the throne room before a petit slimly-built individual, their face covered by the hood of a black cloak, walked out. Azula’s glance rested on the eight strange-looking daggers rested between the stranger’s figures before quickly deducing their identity...

It was an assassin, sent to kill her no doubt by an Earth Kingdom royal.

The figure removed their hood, revealing the pale face of a young woman, older than Azula, with electric blue-green eyes, two strands of her exotic blonde hair jutting upwards like antenna. The mysterious woman, Larxene of Organization XIII, giggled mockingly towards Azula before her daggers began to spark. Azula’s scowl deepened before a cruel smirk tugged at her lips. Maybe this would be a good way to test her skill... Dismissing the flame wall, she leaped off the throne and entered a stance, Larxene crouching down ready to rush.

FIGHT!

Azula made the first move, swinging her arms in an arc-like fashion and releasing a stream of sapphire-blue flames forward towards Larxene. Swiftly, the Nobody disappeared in a flash, Azula’s eyes widening as she looked around. That speed... it was unnatural, even for a world where one had the power to command the elements surrounding them. Suddenly, Larxene formed behind her and began to jab forward with her daggers, Azula turned and hastily leaped back, utilizing a cartwheel to evade Larxene’s strike.

The Nobody frowned before grinning sadistically, raising her hands up before, from above, several bolts of lightning rained down. Azula hastily span her arms around her, forming a large fiery wall to block the attack before dismissing it and sending her own stream of pale-blue lightning forward. Larxene simply grinned before dashing forward, running straight through the lightning, to Azula’s shock, before slashing at the Fire Nation princess.

Her daggers sparked with electricity as Larxene delivered several fierce jabs, Azula gritting her teeth as Larxene struck at her arms, blood trickling from the small puncture wounds, before she swung her leg in an arc formation, sending a crescent-shaped wave of blue fire to knock her attacker away. Creating two fireballs in her hand, Azula threw them forward towards Larxene. If her Lightningbending wouldn’t affect her assailant, she had to rely more on her Firebending... Larxene teleported out of the way of the fireballs, allowing them to smash straight through the wall, grinding it apart, before forming above Azula and throwing her daggers down towards her.

Azula turned before leaping up, flipping in midair to avoid a stream of lightning, as she smirked coldly, releasing another fireball at Larxene. This time, the ball of blue flame smashed into the Nobody, sending her skidding backwards. Taking the opportunity to strike, Azula switched tactics. Rushing forward, Azula began to deliver a fast and fierce volley of kicks and clawing-like motions. Grappling Larxene, Azula’s foot ignited with blue flames before, as she pinned the Nobody to the wall, she smashed it forward. In an explosion of bright blue, Larxene flew through the walls and landed in the corridors of the palace, gritting her teeth as she slowly pushed herself up.

Azula grinned darkly as she saw the opportunity for a kill blow, only for Larxene to push herself up before, with a flick of her wrist, three identical replicas of her formed. The four Larxenes darted in separate directions before teleporting away, Azula growling as she looked around. No doubt, if she was an assassin, she would attack her from behind and her sides. Hearing the sound of footsteps, she turned to block one Larxene’s slash before delivering a fierce jab into her side, the clone dismissing itself. The clones had low endurance, Azula noted, so perhaps the original would also have a similar lack of endurance that she could exploit...

Formulating a plan, she swiftly turned when she heard the sound of more footsteps... only to find no signs of her adversary to be seen. She had been deceived by a fake-out. Larxene and her remaining two clones suddenly dashed at her from all sides, Azula gasping as she hastily turned to kick one clone away, dispelling it, and blast the second clone into oblivion. At that moment, the original Larxene threw her knives down into the ground, sending a fierce barrage of electricity forward. Azula was knocked flying backwards by the burst, sparks emitting from her body, as she slowly pushed herself up, breathing heavily.

Larxene was in front of her in an instant, delivering a fierce kick into her chest and knocking Azula fly backwards. It was an opportunity for her to finish the Fire Nation princess off and claim her Heartless for the Organization’s use, as her Superior had dictated... but where was the fun in that? She wanted to make this royal pain in the ass suffer and scream... after all, nothing, to Larxene, was more satisfying than shattering the mind of a fellow sadist. A grin crossing her face, Larxene released several lightning bolts forward, attempting to use her Lightning Bolt attack to draw Azula in.

However, instead of being drawn in, the Fire Nation princess suddenly flew backwards, bursts of blue fire erupting from the soles of her feet. Larxene growled as she teleported away, reforming in front of the Princess as she jabbed forward. Azula grabbed Larxene’s arm, driving her other hand, in a claw-like strike, straight into Larxene’s throat. The Nobody gasped for air before hastily taking the moment to stab two of her Foudre into the Princess.

Azula bellowed in pain before Larxene took the opportune moment to conjure her knives back into her hand, watching as Azula clutched her bleeding wound. Looking up, Azula’s eyes blazed with a dark intent to kill before she growled ferociously. The Fire Nation royal pushed her hands forward, releasing a large powerful burst of blue fire that, upon contact with the Nobody, exploded into a fierce burst of bright blue. A small smirk of triumph crossed Azula’s face before she heard giggling... the same wretched giggling of her opponent. The Foudre suddenly flew out from the explosion, a beam of lightning emitting from each of them. Azula leaped up and began to run across the wall in an attempt to escape the blasts...

Before one managed to focus on her, the eight blades all firing a burst of electricity at once. Azula scowled before lashing her arms around, creating a vortex-like wall of fire in response. Azula’s attack, far more powerful than Larxene’s, absorbed the lightning with ease as Larxene gasped, clenching her fists tightly. She had been too merciful on her adversary... she wouldn’t be so merciful from that point on. Azula suddenly shot forward, streams of fire propelling her towards Larxene, before, to her shock, she shot eight razor-sharp blades of fire towards her, in a way identical to her own attack, before they transformed into blasts and shot towards her.

Larxene gasped in surprise as she began to shake. Despite not truly feeling anything, one thing she DID know was this... this royal brat had just copied her Blade Storm through studying her muscle movements and the attack pattern alone... and she was NOT amused by it! Larxene teleported away from the flames, reforming a fair few feet away. Azula turned, surprised at her choice of now retreating, before taking the moment to release twin streams of fire forward. Larxene teleported out of their way again before throwing her Foudre into the ground, another gigantic lightning barrage, the Mega Volt, surged forward. Azula hastily turned to cartwheel away however, once it hit the wall, the lightning exploded into a bright flash.

Azula hastily closed her eyes, the blinding intensity of the light too much to bear, before she felt a fierce volley of jabs strike her. Larxene, taking advantage of Azula’s moment of blindness, and two clones were now striking the Fire Princess before the original delivered a powerful kick, sending Azula flying away into the wall. Breathing heavily, Larxene noticed her opponent was beginning to tire. But she herself was beginning to fade... using so many powerful attacks in succession was taking its toll on her. She had to end this fast...

And she knew just how.

Lightning began to spark and crackle around her knives before she rushed forward, the power of the Limit Break, releasing all the restraints on her power levels, taking effect. However, to Larxene, this was not enough. She began to release more electricity from her body, now forming an armor of lightning over her body, as she grinned darkly, her giggle now a full-blown cackle. Azula gasped at the power emitting from her foe, entering a wide stance and firing waves of fire to try and slow her down. This only motivated Larxene to charge further.

Growling, Azula began to feel rage burn inside of her. She wanted nothing more than to make her suffer for striking HER, the epitome of perfection. But first, there was this attack to deal with. Swiftly, she darted to avoid it, only to be struck full-force, screaming as she flew backwards, hitting the ground and gasping for air. Wildly, Larxene bounced off the remaining wall and rushed at Azula again. It was then that the Fire Princess picked up on the flaw of Larxene’s Final Limit... it was inaccurate and she couldn’t control it.

And this WOULD prove to be the Savage Nymph’s last mistake.

Azula propelled herself up into the air as Larxene rushed again, flipping in midair to gain more height, as she began to charge up her energy. Larxene skidded to a halt, breathing heavily as the lightning armor dismissed itself, sinking to her knees. Growling darkly, she glared up only to see Azula grin before launching her arms forward, sending a gigantic swirling blast of blue fire crashing down onto the Nobody.

Larxene screeched in agony as the flames seared away at her flesh and muscle, tearing apart her being, as she began to crumble. Her Foudre melted away in the flames, her arms breaking apart into ash-like wisps of darkness. Larxene gasped as the rest of her body began to break apart into a gaseous darkness, screaming one last time before her entire body broke apart into the dark gas, fading away with a few sparks. As the flames died, Azula hit the ground, breathing heavily, and glanced around. The ground was lit with blue flames and a deep smoking crater lay where Larxene had once stood.

Her opponent, at long last, was dead. And not even ash remained of her body.

A small grin crossed the Fire Princess’ face, similar to the sadistic grin of her own deceased opponent, as she laughed loudly, golden eyes blazing with a passionate fury. She had survived the wrath of this mysterious assassin, whose skills were far beyond those of her world... and not only had she survived, she had slain her! SHE was the most powerful there was... SHE was absolute perfection in her eyes.

K.O!

Deadpool: DAMN! Talk about overkill! ...I like this girl! Well, ignoring the cuckoo-for-cocoa-puffs and evil parts... that is...

Edge: While Larxene had the superior speed, the ability to teleport and immunity to Azula’s Lightningbending, making it effectively useless, Azula’s superior stamina, intelligence, versatility and Firebending proved the key to triumph.

Deadpool: Whilst Larxene was throwing around bolts and blades and, for a bit, not taking it all that seriously, Azula’s mind was set to kill mode from the start! Not to mention, whilst Azula’s rage developed, her fire became more powerful than ever, that final attack capable of destroying Larxene in a few short seconds. In the end, Crazy Dragon Lady outdid Crazy Pixie Lady this time!

Edge: The winner is Princess Azula!

(Azula fires a large burst of bright-blue fire down towards Larxene, incinerating her instantly in an explosion of sapphire and azure blue flames.)
